The SIUC Transportation Education Center (TEC) is the ultimate expression of excellence of the University's automotive and aviation programs, which are among the most widely respected and highly rated in the world.

The TEC anchors an existing cluster of transportation program facilities at the Southern Illinois Airport, which are dedicated to the study and advancement of automotive and air transportation. SIUC aviation programs are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and the automotive program has thrice been rated the best in the nation, most recently in 2005, by the Association of Automotive Manufacturers and the Association for Career and Technical Education.

Program seniors frequently receive multiple employment offers several months prior to graduation and alumni are industry leaders at major transportation facilities and firms throughout the world, including American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest and Tri-State Airlines, American Honda, The Boeing Company, Cummins Engines, DaimlerChrysler, Firestone/Bridgestone, The Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Lockheed Martin, Toyota North America, and United Parcel Service.
